Turning Services
Mid Kansas Machine operates 14 turning machines: seven CNC turning machines, six horizontal manual lathes, and one vertical turning lathe. We provide CNC, vertical, and manual turning for one-off parts, short runs, and production work. Our turning capabilities support a broad range of part sizes and materials, including carbon and tool steels, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, cast iron, nickel alloys, and engineered plastics.
Our largest documented vertical turning capacity is 94.5 inches in diameter by 78.7 inches. The Hwacheon 850BBL YMC supports parts up to 41.34 inches in diameter by 143.7 inches long, with an 11.81-inch through-spindle capacity. We maintain more than 300 insert types for grooving, threading, roughing, and finishing, along with vibration-damped boring tools for deep cuts.

Materials and Applications
We machine carbon and alloy steels, tool steels, stainless steels, cast iron, aluminum, brass, copper, Hastelloy, Inconel, and engineering plastics such as Delrin, HDPE, Nylatron, nylon, PEEK, phenolic, polyurethane, and PTFE. Our turning work supports agriculture, oil and gas, plastics, mining, medical, food manufacturing, and general manufacturing applications.
Typical turning tolerance is ±0.003 inch, depending on material, part geometry, size, and inspection requirements. We specialize in one-off parts and can also support production quantities.
